Bore Cleaning System

An air-powered barrel cleaning system available to suit smooth and rifled barrels from 25mm upwards. Fast, effective and one-man operation are the major advantages of this superior barrel management equipment.

About the System

Nicknamed "The Golden Ferret" by gunners of The Royal Artillery, the Airnesco Bore Cleaning System is saving the Forces countless man hours and hundreds of thousands of pounds.

First thought of in 1997 the equipment has been tirelessly tested and developed with the help of the Royal Navy and British Army. The system has been designed and developed to meet three requirements;

  • Removal of firing deposits
  • Removal of inhibiting oil
  • Application of oil to a cleaned barrel

Operating the System

The system only requires one person and can be rapidily assembed and dismantled, using quick release couplings throughout. The brush is secured to the ferret and controlled by a foot valve. Air is delivered via a filter lubrication unit.

The ferret can be placed into the barrel breech or muzzle end, it travels along the barrel and on reaching the other end the brush travel is reversed and it will automatically return down the barrel towards the operator.

The average cycle time is one minute for a double pass. Compressors can be provided for the Airnesco System - please contact us for more details.
